Cinnamon Baked Apples
As the cool winds of autumn blow, children play in a harvest of red, brown, and golden leaves. They rake the leaves into heaping piles and leap down into the piles from low branches. But when the raking and leaping is finished, the kids are cold and hungry.
This month's recipe is great for kids, not only because it is a delicious and nutrtious antidote to the frosty winds of November, but also because it is something they can help make!
Ingredients
4 red apples
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350° F or 175° C
- Core, but do not slice, apples.
- Melt butter in microwave.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon with butter.
- Brush cinnamon mixture onto each apple.
- Bake apples in oven for 15 minutes, until golden brown
Variation: Try substituting tart Granny Smith apples instead.
